Ofsted Inspection Update –

Norbreck Remains a ‘Good’ School!🎉

We are extremely proud to share some fantastic news: following our recent Ofsted inspection in March, Norbreck has once again been recognised as a ‘Good’ school.

A Successful Inspection

This was what’s known as an ungraded inspection—a visit that takes place when a school was previously judged to be ‘Good’. While this type of inspection doesn’t result in a new grade, it ensures standards are being maintained. We’re thrilled that Norbreck continues to meet and exceed these expectations.

Maintaining this standard is no small achievement. It reflects the dedication and commitment of everyone in the Norbreck Family—our pupils, staff, families, and wider community. We are incredibly grateful for all the hard work that goes into making Norbreck the special place it is.

Warm Words from the Inspector

The inspector told us she thoroughly enjoyed her two days at our school and that a "good outcome was never in doubt." She praised the wonderful atmosphere and was particularly impressed by our pupils, describing them as “an absolute delight”—polite, enthusiastic, and clearly proud of their school.

She also recognised the many strengths in our curriculum and noted the progress we are making in continuously improving and developing our teaching and learning.

Amongst the many positive comments, we were especially proud to hear that:

  • Norbreck has “the highest ambition for the learning and behaviour of all pupils,” and that our children rise to meet those expectations.

  • "Pupils thrive in the family atmosphere of this large, friendly school."

  • Children are provided with a “strong foundation for later learning,” and their experiences here were described as “outstanding.”

  • Staff know the pupils well, creating a nurturing and supportive environment where children "feel safe and valued."

Looking to the Future

From September 2024, our curriculum has undergone a thorough review, with high aspirations for all our children at its core. The inspector evaluated our History and Geography curriculum and acknowledged the rapid progress made in a short space of time. She noted that, while improvements are underway, these changes are naturally not yet fully established or embedded. She was pleased to see that our development plans had already addressed this.

We would like to say a heartfelt thank you to everyone who took part in the inspection process—especially those who completed Ofsted’s Parent View survey or spoke to the inspector directly. She was overwhelmed by the number of warm, positive comments shared by our school community.

Thank you once again to all our children, families, staff, and supporters. Your continued care and commitment help make Norbreck a wonderful place to learn, grow, and thrive.
